ash received a phone call from a grateful, concurring reader after this letter was published in her local paper:
Was wondering how long it would take some sourpuss (conservative) columnist to disparage the memory of George Harrison. George Will certainly fits the bill.
Though Harrison, like Will, was born several years before the onset of the baby boom generation, the former was as much a part of it as the latter condemns it. While Will's resentful language practically hisses off the page, Harrison was, and continues to be, one of the greatest inspirations and mentors to this huge demographic, of which I am a member.
Scratch not very far under the surface, and George Will's Baby Boomer Envy complex becomes transparent.
