If this one seems repetitive, it’s because local letter writers were voicing a limited repertoire of conservative talking points before she decided to ignore them altogether.

Those who hate our way of life can leave

In reference to two anti-war bash Bush letters, the Aug. 18 letter by Milford Franks and the Aug. 30 letter by Doug and Dee Hagan: I can never understand why folks like this who hate our way of life in America so much still remain here.

We have flights leaving on a daily schedule for France, Germany, Canada, etc., which maintain a lifestyle more suitable for them, and they have free health care.

My advice is: America, love it or leave it.

Paul Ford, Riverton

Is it serendipity? A remarkable coincidence of timing? Fate? The day after I discussed with a friend the calculated inanity of catch phrases like “America: love it or leave it,” someone used it in our very own newspaper.

I’m sure that such simplistic nonsense (we wouldn’t prefer to improve the country we love from within, would we?), emanating primarily from the 23% of the population with authoritarian inclinations, is warming the collective heart of the administration as we speak. Which is also good timing, considering Bush and company need all the support they can still get.
