What you believe affects your behavior

I see that you and Chris Britt joined forces with a double dose of Darwin's theory of evolution in the Oct. 20 paper.

It's interesting that you chose the title of your editorial as "A cornerstone of science" since the New Testament calls Jesus Christ the Chief Cornerstone of our faith.

You write your letter as if evolution is a fact. At least Einstein's theory of relatively has been proven in the laboratory. Evolution has not been duplicated in the laboratory. When and where did scientists discover the missing link?

Proverbs 23:7 states, "For as he thinks with himself, so he is." What you believe affects your behavior.

Not too worried about how we treat terrorists

I saw no outrage from them on 9/11/2001. I saw no outrage from them when Daniel Pearl and many other innocents were beheaded on TV. I saw no outrage from them when U.S. contractors were burned alive. I saw no outrage from them when naked U.S. soldiers are dragged through the streets.

I cannot get too worked up when we have terrorists wear underwear on their heads nor when we cremate the remains of terrorists who minutes before would have flown planes into our buildings, beheaded and burned innocent civilians or dragged our troops through the street naked if given the chance. Tell me how I am wrong.

Jerald Jacobs

Saturday’s opinion page brought two letters of interest.

In one, the writer attempted to malign the credibility of Evolution by quoting the Bible. I suggest that merely makes the other side’s case separating scientific theory from pure faith for it.

In the other, the writer cited a series of tragic events in response to which he “saw no outrage” from an unidentified “them,” implying that his observation leads to the inevitable conclusion that foreign prisoners deserve the not quite as inhumane treatment they allegedly receive. Presumably certain of the infallibility of his reasoning, he challenged the reader to argue “how I am wrong.”

That’s easy. Just because he didn’t see the outrage doesn’t mean it wasn’t there.
