In response to CI Greenwood: is, as you state, “homosexual behavior is a matter of choice,” then all homosexuals must be masochists. For who but a glutton for punishment would “choose” such a lifestyle in this society. With people like you around. Are you kidding?
No, I am not a homosexual. But neither was my sexual orientation a “choice.” It was an accident of circumstances, perhaps a fortunate one considering people like Mr. Greenwood, but an accident nonetheless. Not a choice at all but a discovery, an acknowledgment. We all discover our natural inclinations – who we are, how we are.
By labeling homosexuality a “choice,” you give yourself license to blame, condemn, punish and exclude. Instead, I suggest you work on tolerance for people who simpy are who they are and don’t deserve to be penelized for it, while reconsidering the logic of your argument.
I, meanwhile, will work on tempering my own prejudices against the ignorant, the intolerant and the downright stupid. Then again, maybe they “chose” to be that way.
