Embryonic stem cell work hasn't been banned
I don't know if utilizing embryonic stem cells for medical research is "destruction of life." I'll leave that to others to debate.

ash requests that you read this post and this post before tackling the one below. They are sequential. Whose Turf comprises a series of letters about religion and Just an Arbitrary is her year end’s roundup. They’re seemingly unrelated but both are referenced throughout the email messages, particularly in the first piece she wrote to preclude being taken surprise by possible responses to her then just-published essays:
Now that much has been written about the appropriateness of beseeching good Christians to pray for one single member of the State Journal-Register community, I would like to add a few remarks. Beginning with the controversy over a prominent reverend’s concern for the disposition of an individual soul, I will turn to the lack of clarity on the shorthand for a suggestion I made and finally to the fact that so much of what happened in 2006 was unacknowledged on December 30.

Most people will not agree with Novak’s assumption
After all the public debate on stem cell research, it’s shocking that a columnist of Robert Novak’s stature would find it acceptable to link stem cell research to abortion politics.

Once again, ash is pleased to echo another writer’s sentiments, this time on a local issue: the controversy over a recently passed smoking ban in public buildings. Though she is normally far more intrigued by national affairs, in this instance she happened to have had a recent experience with the matter in question:
Consider another problem brought on by ban
I have been listening to the debate about the smoking ban for months. And while this smoking ban is being argued, I am losing sleep. Why? Because of the extremely high level of noise that now emanates from the local downtown bars.
