ash didn’t keep the referenced letters. (Reading them was unpleasant enough the first time.) In her defense, she didn’t foresee a website on which they might be appreciated. In this case, she was refuting the grounds on which defending traditional marriage was based, as she notes within:



Tuesday’s paper devotes one page to four letters on the issue of the proposed constitutional amendment banning gay marriage in Illinois. Three of them, deliberately or ignorantly, miss the point.

The “letter writer” ash mentions is her good email friend and fellow writer who herself wrote a letter in response to the Malkin column:



Here’s an admission you won’t often get. Having read the headline of Michelle Malkin’s latest “column,” I barely skimmed the rest of it. Yet I feel qualified to point out the phoniness of her shock, shock at a description used by a Senator who happens to be a Democrat.

This issue has been especially dear to ash since ashlover learned of his disease which might well benefit from this promising research. Even before ashlover’s discovery she was adamant about the cause which practically defines liberal compassion and which strikes her as absolutely clear cut.



The medical community defines death as the cessation not of the heart but of brain activity. Life, accordingly, begins not with the fusion of egg and sperm in the womb or petri dish but as the developing fetus becomes aware of its own existence, that is, develops a brain.  That's my standard, as valid as anyone else's.

The word bandied about is one of ash’s pet peeves. There is such a thing as whining, which occurs almost exclusively on the part of animals and small children. Among adults it is actually quite rare.

Incidentally, the titles are presumably Mike the editor's. ash certainly didn't write hers. In fact, every title she supplies is invariably replaced.



Tired of constant whine from the left wing


Monday's letters section brought two more selections of whine from the left wing. One writer whined about the cost of the inauguration and another whined that the nation had selected a not-too-bright person to be its president.
