Knee-jerk conservatism, anyone? Coming right up:
Our legislators are playing us for fools
Our elitist Sen. Barack Obama has declared the folks who got tax relief as those who don’t need it. Our aspiring socialist Gov. Rod Blagojevich says those same folks, the $60,000 a year and less income set, are too poor and need socialized health care for their children. While that conflicting logic gets played in the media, Sen. Durbin wants a windfall profits tax on oil and gas producers.

“Apropos of nothing in particular” was the note ash attached to this submission. Of course, these politicians yearn for those previous “lows”:
I normally disdain political statistics, but the numbers are stunning. According to a consensus of polls, the President’s approval rating is 34%. The Vice President’s is 18.

John L. Sullivan (letters, 5/9) asks an intriguing, if rhetorical, question. How DID President Bush manage to persevere through Yale and Harvard? It wouldn’t be contingent upon mediocre grades and family legacy, would it?
